Welcome to the Frequently Asked Questions!
Kitten Placement
We love to see our kittens go to responsible loving homes as pets, and most,
even breeder and show quality end up as pets. Kittens are raised in our
homes and are familiar with normal household noises.
In an effort to contribute to the overall genetic diversity and overall
progression of the Siberian as well as our own breeding program, we will
retain the right to place kittens in breed and show programs prior to pet
homes (including our own). Please note we are extremely particular about who
gets a breed or show kitten and we will only allow a select few from each
litter for this purpose. Our aim is to place only the best into breeding and
therefore the requirements are many.
Note: Beware any breeder that says every kitten they have is breed/show quality. We won't say this doesn't happen but its incredibly rare and if the cattery doesn't show, ask what criteria they are claiming this on. (feedback from breeders who do show, siblings placed into breed and show programs and pedigree BUT pedigree alone doesn't make a show quality kitten, its so much more than that, and what makes a breeder quality kitten may be a poor choice for showing). Definitions Pet - buddy, pal, companion kitten to join the family. A pet has excellent health and temperament but for one reason or another may not be the perfect cat for the show ring. Show Alter - Kitten that has great type, coat, head, ear width, eye placement and temperament for showing. Great to learn about breeding with and learn the standard as well as enjoy hobby showing in the premier class (alter class). Breeder Quality - Kitten that may have something in physical appearance or personality making it a better candidate as a breeder instead of a showing and breeding cat. Breeder Quality cats are cats that have the potential to produce better than themselves based on pedigree, titles, and siblings. Breeder Quality requires a breeder that understands genotype vs. phenotype. Breed/Show Quality - Cat with total package exemplifying the standard as much as possible. Potentially with proper diet, grooming and preparation, should final in the show hall and produce better than themselves in their offspring. Ideal candidates for preserving the Siberian breed for the future and educating the public on this wonderful breed. Kitten Waiting List - click for more infoBecause matings are planned and we are a small home based cattery, our litters are based on quality and not quantity. If you are interested in a kitten from us from an unborn litter and want pick of litter after breed/show placements, you are welcome to place a 20 dollar deposit that will be put toward the purchase of a kitten. If you are not 100 percent sure and would prefer to keep your options open, you may join our waiting list and be notified when we have kittens available. Privacy & Personal Information We will not sell or give your personal information to anyone, period.
Kittens are placed at 12-16 weeks into their homes.
All pets are altered prior to placement.
Kittens receive the 3 way vaccine at 7 and 11 weeks as well as rabies and will see a vet at
least 3 times prior to going home with you.
Retired Breeders
Retirees are significantly less cost than a kitten and will be more mature to make a loving family member. We love our kitties dearly and hate to see them leave, but believe it is for their own happiness and benefit they retire to pet homes. We want to see them spend their lives after breeding in a loving home where they are the center of attention. Most breeders are retired at 4-5 and will have many years of life to spend with their new family. Some females have issues giving birth or just aren't producing what we are looking for in our programs future. These girls can be 1-3 years of age. We treat our boys as family members, but many males can't get along in groups, plus they are dominant, hormonal and noisy. In our experience, these behaviors end when they are neutered so a new pet home will have a calm loveable boy to enjoy. Please check with us in 2008 for retirees.
Shipping
We prefer to place locally so you can meet our kitties and see how our cats live. If this is not possible, we will drive and meet you within reasonable distance for the cost of gas. In cases where air shipping is needed, it is 250 dollars. This includes: health certificate, crate, cat bed, small bag of food, sample litter, toy and airline ticket.
Airlines
We prefer to ship Delta Dash or Continental. We have shipped quite a few kittens in the US and Canada with great success.
International Shipping
We do ship international. Please contact us for more information.
Starter Kit
All kittens driven by car or picked up at our home come with a crate, cat bed, starter bag of food, starter bag of litter, and toy. If you are interested in us obtaining further supplies for your kitten, we would be more than happy to pick them up at cost. We can also make customized beds and toys for you.
Diet
We feed our cats and kittens based on their personal needs. Altered cats are fed California Natural and Purina Urinary Tract to prevent struvite crystals. Kittens are fed Royal Canin kitten, plain yogurt, interferon (Iron), L-Lysine, Wellness and Iams wet food and raw meat. Queens are fed a mixture of Royal Canin kitten and California Naturual dry food. They are given raw bones to prevent tarter build up as well as maintain and stregthen teeth and gums. Wet food is Wellness, California Natural and Iams depending on the mom cats personal taste and nutritional needs. The girls are also given raw meat a couple of times a week to ensure they are getting enough taurine and protein in their diet which is absolutely critical to kitten development. Diet while not pregnant or nursing is just as important as while they are with kittens. Besides stud duties a few times a year, our boys primary function is showing and educating the public on the Siberians. With that, in order to maintain show condition, diet is incredibly important not only in keeping them healthy and in good shape, but to also keep their coat in top shape, luminous and shiny. They are fed fresh raw frequently for optimal nutrition. They also receive a mix of Purina Urinary Tract and California Natural. Litter Fresh Step
